Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Dar es Salaam, Fidelis is co-director of THOR. He has been working in archeological and paleoanthropological sites of Tanzania (especially Olduvai Gorge) since the 1980s, metaphorically taking over from Mary Leakey and becoming the reference for the study of Tanzanian Paleolithic. In 2014, his group discovered the new hominin footprints at Laetoli Site S.
