Biography

Paleoanthropologist. Full professor of Anthropology at the Department of Environmental Biology of the Sapienza University of Rome; member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. He has been the general secretary of the Italian Institute of Human Paleontology (1999-2006), director of the Museum of Anthropology “G. Sergi” (2004-2021), director of the Polo Museale Sapienza (2012-2018). His publications include about 200 scientific papers and books. Professional expertise in human morphology, ecology and evolution, comparative anatomy, advanced morphological and morphometric analyses, skeletal biology of past human populations. He is also known as a science communicator.
