Paleoanthropologist. Full professor of Anthropology and director of the Museum of Anthropology “G. Sergi”, Sapienza University of Rome; member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. Former Director of the Polo Museale Sapienza (2012-2018) and General Secretary of the Italian Institute of Human Paleontology (1999-2006). He has published about 200 scientific papers and books. His professional expertise includes the interpretation of the fossil record of human evolution, advanced morphological and morphometric analyses, the skeletal biology of past human populations. He is also known as a science communicator.
