Giovanni is Associate Professor of Anthropology, Geoarchaeology and Human Ecology at University of Pisa. He is also Senior Research Associate at Palaeo-Research Institute, University of Johannesburg. His research interests in Geoarchaeology are focused on site formation processes and humans-environment interactions from late Pliocene to Late Pleistocene. His studies concern the reconstruction of sedimentary processes and anthropic imprint in sediments in Italy, the Balkans, South Africa, Tanzania and Georgia.
